Eliseo Reategui has a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the University of London, England. He also holds a BS in Computer Science from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, and an MS in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. His PhD thesis investigated the relationship between general and specific knowledge in reasoning, proposing a hybrid architecture to solve diagnostic problems. After the completion of his PhD, Eliseo Reategui went to work at the Laboratoire de Productique at the University of Bordeaux, France, using AI techniques in the modelling of manufacturing systems. In France, he also worked at the R&D department of Kalisto Technologies, in Bordeaux, using intelligent multi-agent systems in the development of computer games. He was also an AI consultant for the company Cognition in Paris, France, working in knowledge management projects for companies such as Peugeot/Citroën and Thompson. In Brazil, Eliseo Reategui worked as a project leader at Godigital, Porto Alegre, carrying out applied research on web personalization and virtual characters. He has published papers in main international conferences (such as SIGGRAPH, AAAI, ICCBR) and journals (such as Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Applied Intelligence), in areas involving artificial life, machine learning and reasoning. Eliseo is nowadays one of the leaders of the Biovirtual Lab, in the Department of Computer Science at Universidade de Caxias do Sul, Brazil. His research interests include artificial intelligence, virtual reality environments and human-computer interaction.
