Michael R Salmond is a British digital artist and assistant professor at Elon University, North Carolina. He has exhibited his works nationally and internationally. His first 2 solo shows; "Blimey" and his Thesis show "now", were at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Salmond has exhibited in several group shows including 'DNA, Art and Science", "Gala Corina", "Object me" at Covivant Gallery and "A Virtual Memorial" online exhibition as well as exhibiting 'voxels' on Rhizome.org and appearing on 'work of the day'. Salmond's professional experience includes working as a web developer and designer, a webmaster and multimedia designer. He received his B.Sc. from Plymouth University in the UK and his MFA from the University of South Florida USA. This year Michael presented at the College Art Association conference in Atlanta on the New Media Caucus panel. He has been published in several industry magazines for 3D and art and design, namely "Design 4 Discreet Users" "IBC Daily", "Computer Creative" and "KTX World" . He has appeared as a guest on "Here on Earth" a Wisconsin NPR show focussing on digital art, as well as an interview on Tampa-Based W-USF NPR talking about his research into Art and Videogames. Michael has also been interviewed several times on op-ed pieces by the St. Petersburg Times in regard to video game technology and culture. Salmond is a memeber of the CAA New Media Caucus, the College Art Association and the Sony Gamer Advisory Panel. Michael continues his research into Art and Videogames whilst teaching Digital Arts.
