Su Ballard is a senior lecturer and Head of Art Theory at the School of Art, Dunedin New Zealand. She teaches art theory, visual culture, and digital aesthetics. Her writing can be found in ArtAsiaPacific, FineArt Forum and Fibreculture (http://journal.fibreculture.org/issue7/issue7_ballard.html). Su is completing her PhD at the College of Fine Arts, UNSW Sydney. Her research addresses a new notion of materiality for the digital, and focuses on Australian and New Zealand installation artists who are operating within international frameworks. She locates her research methodology in the interstices of information theory and art history. Su presents regularly at conferences, and in 2006 presented at Transmediale. She is also an artist and musician, exhibiting widely within New Zealand. Su is a convenor of ADA Aotearoa Digital Arts Network (http://www.aotearoadigitalarts.org.nz) and deputy board chair of the Physics Room contemporary artspace, Christchurch (http://www.physicsroom.org.nz).
