Yara Guasque (Yara Rondon Guasque Araujo) is a multimedia artist and a professor with the Post-Graduation Programme in Visual Arts of UDESC. She graduated from FAAP with a degree in Plastic Art; she holds an MA degree in Literature from UFSC and a PhD from
the Communication and Semiotics Programme of PUCSP. Since 2003, she has been the leader of the CNPq research group Telepresence in immersive, participative and interactive environments. From 1999 to 2001 she coordinated the Perforum Desterro, which investigated telepresence performances; she was a visiting researcher between 2001 and 2002 in the Media Interface and Network Design of the Media, Information Studies and
Telecommunications Department of the Michigan State University, USA; she coordinated, from 2004 to 2006, the group Telematic Interactions (www.udesc.br/perforum); and coordinated and participated, in 2006, in the exhibit of interactive installations
Emparedados (www.ceart.udesc.br/emparedados).
