Will Straw has been a member of the Department of Art History and Communications at McGill University since 1993. Previous to that, he taught Film Studies within the School for Studies in Art and Culture at Carleton University. Dr. Straw is the author of the forthcoming book Popular Music: Scenes and Sensibilities (Duke University Press, 2006) and co-editor of the forthcoming Urban Circulation (McGill-Queens University Press, 1996). He is the author of over 60 articles on film music, media and cultural studies. Dr. Straw is the co-editor of The Cambridge Companion to Popular Music, Theory Rules: Art as Theory, Theory and Art, Accounting for Culture: Thinking through Cultural Citizenship. Will Straw is on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including Screen, Cultural Studies, Culture, Theory and Critique, Space and Culture and the Canadian Journal of Communications. His current research focuses on New York tabloid culture of the 1930s.
